Want to get involved but not sure where to start? The very best way to begin is to come to a Park District and/or Civic Association meeting. This will help you find out what is happening in the community and what opportunities there are for getting involved! Just check out the Meeting Dates and Times sections for details!
Volunteer and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Volunteers are vital to most everything the Park District and Civic Association offers to the community by staffing special events, assisting in our programs, taking pictures, baking for events, preparing or delivering newsletters, and keeping our parks and lake beautiful. These are only a few examples of the many ways volunteers MAKE A DIFFERENCE in our community and help the Grandwood Park Park District and the Grandwood Park Civic Association continue to offer such unique and fun events for the community. How many times have you heard, "We couldn't have done it without our vounteers"? Well, that is most certainly true in our community.
The Benefits of Volunteering are Endless!
Volunteers give freely of their time and expertise in order to make a difference. Volunteering can help you build confidence and self-esteem, make a difference in your community, make new friends, gain new opportunities and challenges, provide a sense of fun and adventure, improve career opportunities and employability, be a part of the community, feel needed and valued, learn or develop new skills, and much, much more!
Volunteers are needed to serve in many capacities during special events, programs, etc. You may volunteer to chair an event, decorate, help with food preparation, plant or collect seeds, assist with crafts and/or games, assist with set-up or clean-up of an event, collect tickets, sell raffle tickets ....... the list is endless.
Take a minute to look through the picture gallery below of volunteers during events throughout the year. What does every picture have in common? A GREAT BIG SMILE !!!!
If you want to volunteer, indicate your interest on the Civic Association Membership form, or call the park district office at 847-356-0008.
