All About Us

Our School

We were founded in 1979 by the Park District with the idea that every child is unique and, therefore, special.

Our Staff

Lead Teacher, Erin Magnuson, has a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Taylor University in Indiana.  Mrs. Magnuson’s teaching experiences around the Chicagoland area included fifth grade and second grade.  For the past two years, she has been teaching in a preschool setting.

Assistant Teacher, Katie LeClair, joined the Park District in 2008. Prior to that Mrs. LeClair was a PAC (Parental Advisory Committee) member and a substitute teacher.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide a solid foundation for our student's future education in a nurturing and loving environment. In addition to the ABC's and 123's, our curriculum includes an emphasis on daily living skills, respect for others, manners, and learning through play.

Our Programs

We offer 2 programs. Our 3 year old class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for children who have reached the age of 3 on or before September 1st. Our 4 year old class is held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and is designed for children who have reached the age of 4 on or before September 1st. Both classes are in session from 9:00-11:30 a.m., offer a social and academic curriculum and are held in the Grandwood Park Park District Community Center.

Members provide support, and participate in activities that promote the growth and welfare of the preschool, such as helping with the organization of charity drives, aid with promotion of the preschool and drive enrollment, assist with fundraising, party and graduation planning, and volunteers in the classroom.

The roll of the Executive Advisory Team is to ensure the goals and vision of the Little Learners Preschool are carried out along with overseeing the daily operations. This team is comprised of three individuals; a Park District Commissioner, the Park District Manager, and an educator with a background in Preschool/Elementary education.
